Last year and especially this year I had to deal with who I’d like to call the “Bike Show Nazi.” You know ─ the guy who is put into a position of power and it goes to his head. Last year I had to beg and plead to get in 45 minutes before the show. This year the Bike Show Nazi not only was disrespectful, he told me, and I quote, “You don’t even belong in this building.” This year I got zero minutes.
Enough said! I don’t need to put up with that crap when we have been giving free positive press to this event since its inception 15 years ago.
On the positive side, the custom creations this year did not disappoint. Although it was advertised that over 20 bikes would be in the show, I only counted 16. I was pretty good at math in school.
This year’s winner was Jeremy Cupp of LC Fabrications with his hand built speedway racer-inspired build. I have photographed many of the bikes he’s built in the past and I have to say this is one my favorites.
In my opinion there were three or four bikes that stood out but don’t get me wrong, all the bikes were top quality builds that would turn heads anywhere they were seen. The Artistry in Iron show is sponsored by the Cycle Source magazine so kudos for sponsoring this event again this year.
