2010 Myrtle Beach Spring Rally Part 2 – Cruisin’ the Coast
Story and Photos by Jack Cofano
One of the highlights of any of the shows I attend has to be the bikes I get to photograph. I never get tired of it. There are always plenty of bikes to choose from. I only wish I could be ten places at once. It kills me when I see a great bike cruisin’ and can’t find it later to share with you.
One of the things that has always made it hard to find the cream of the crop in Myrtle Beach is that they never really have any major bike shows. The rally has always been about riding and mingling at the different bars and venues, and the area is so large, bikes are all over the damn place.
I still get lucky occasionally if I am at the right place at the right time. This year was even harder with the smaller number of vendors and the lack of any traffic problems. People were riding a lot more from place to place. Not necessarily a bad thing.
One of the trends I am seeing this year not only at Myrtle Beach, but several of the other shows, is the lack of custom bikes. Things are tough. Builders can no longer build spec bikes and hope for a quick sale. What doesn’t seem to be hurting as much is the number of new Harley-Davidson bikes, especially the newer Sportster models. Another trend I am seeing is the number of trikes on the road including what I call the “basackward” trikes, you know, two wheels in the front, one in the back.
Hope ya enjoy the pics.
