Larry is a guy with many vices from boats to getting plans and building his own bi-plane that he’s flown coast to coast to coast with FAA certification and paid for by Larry’s incredible store, repair shop, used parts emporium and junkyard. Larry has it all.
You walk into the shop from the front parking lot and it seems to be your normal accessory store. But, in the two buildings alongside and the one building outback the real nuts and bolts are evident. Kathy runs the front so Larry is usually in the shop doing what he loves — building, repairing, and modifying Harley-Davidsons along with selling a few bikes here and there.
I asked him what he had old and weird laying around and he mentioned a couple of old DKW trials bikes. It just so happens that this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance bike class is featuring Eastern European motorcycles. So, we may just see Larry loading his biplane with DKW motorcycles and landing at the Monterey Airport some time in early August.
