When the condo Nazis tried to eliminate the bike weeks in 2008, it almost destroyed one of the oldest and most popular bike rallies in the country. Many people were angry and rightfully so. What they didn’t understand was that bikers don’t give in that easily. It’s taken a few years, but Bike Week in the Myrtle Beach area has begun to come back and is still a great place to visit in the spring.
With new venues, the return of vendors, and great weather, it was only a matter of time before the rally was back and, in my opinion, better than ever. It’s much easier to get around the area and staying away from the lure of downtown makes for a much more pleasurable week.
I hope that those who have avoided the rally for the past few years realize that this is a completely new rally. You don’t have to go into the city (I don’t) and with the bypass, getting to the spread out venues is a piece of cake and a great ride.
Party on!
