Scotty’s obviously his own guy when it comes to building a custom bagger and said, “Street Glides are a dime a dozen. I wanted something unique that no one else would copy. It was my idea to build an Old School-looking Street Glide and when I proposed the idea to my friend Jason Perdue, he said he had just the right paint job in mind.” Scotty refers to that “finished” paint job as “orange rust” and he’s hit the nail right on the head with that description of the forced patina look.
Built in his own Scranton, South Carolina, shop, Scotty left no stone unturned on this build. After lowering the already-low FLHX an inch with Progression Suspension pieces, he chucked on a set of HDW Apollo fat spoke wires with a Kate Moss-skinny 21-incher replacing the stock Rosie O’Donnell-chunky 16” hoop. Adding to the fat spoke bling factor is an Avon Venom 100/90 whitewall up front and a stock-size whitewall out back. Adding to the added attitude is what Scotty’s all about and nothing says attitude like a set of apes. The 13” bars add just the right amount and still make all that supercharged power easily handled.
You could just bolt on a ProCharger setup and call it a day, but Scotty took things just a wee bit further. Leaving the engine internals stock, Scotty threw in a 211 Screamin’ Eagle cam along with a Zipper’s ThunderMax throttle body with 60-lb injectors before bolting on that miracle of forced-induction horsepower and orgasmic fun, a ProCharger supercharger. Zipper’s revolutionary ThunderMax EFI Module with its built-in AutoTune setup acts as a referee of internal combustion and keeps things on the up and up no matter how or where Scotty rides. A set of Vance & Hines headers with a pair of outrageous Tommy Gunz slip-ons partially hidden under the bags lets the world know when Scotty’s up to no good. “I’m very impressed with the ProCharger,” he said. “It gave the bike much more horsepower than I had imagined and it is very responsive in everyday riding.”
Scotty’s Street Charger is only his second build, but it showcases a fun maturity towards most custom baggers that are more about the bling and to hell with the zing with its hooligan side just waiting to bust out at the twist of the wrist. And, this is no trailer queen/no-mileage show bike either as Scotty has over 12,000 miles on it including numerous trips to Daytona, Myrtle Beach, and Maggie Valley. “This is my personal rider, the only bike I own. Just your basic everyday rider with the exception of small trips and leisure outings,” said Scotty summing up his build in just eight words. “It’s better than stock and fast as hell!”
