Steve Coe’s Incredible Collection
Story and Photos by Rodent
Years ago I froze my ass off in Steve Coe’s backyard helping Easyriders photographer Billy Tinney shoot a girl for a feature in that magazine. It was so cold that Billy could only take a couple of shots before the girl had to be rushed into the house and warmed up. Goose bumps don’t look good in Florida.
Since then Steve has honed his building and racing interests. He runs annually in the Vintage Races at Daytona International Speedway and is a well known collector and rebuilder of antique motorcycles and vehicles. He served as chief mechanic of one of the contestants in the recent Cannonball Memorial Sea to Shining Sea race. So, on my arrival in Daytona I made arrangements to run out to Steve’s compound outside of town. Marcus Orabona .of Trailer Trash Choppers accompanied me as he was interested in Steve’s used parts collection.
We returned the following week to shoot some of the bikes that Steve and Vanessa could pull out of the building with ease. These will be viewable soon. Three acres of parts, engines, boats, cars, trucks, and tons of motorcycle parts and complete motorcycles.
Everybody who has seen the photos wants to visit Steve’s collection. Steve would like to open a museum and properly display this incredible collection.
