German Customizers have a thing for low, stretched bikes, and the unlimited speed on the German autobahn assures such bikes have to be buily to the highest standards world-wide. After two European Championships and a Vice-World Championship, it ain’t really neccessary to introduce German top shop Thunderbike, but this hotshot of the German custom bike businss has hesitated to step onto the European market for some time. Homologation costs for EC-approval are considerable, but with this radical rolling chassis, they’ll pay off for sure. The Dragster RS frame is a rolling chassis that will appeal to both the professional customizer and Harley-Davidson shops, as they are designed to be powered by H-D’s Screamin’ Eagle Twin Cam.
When motorcycle test riders want to go fast, they know the road to go: A-31. The autobahn from the Rerman Ruhr area points straight to the north, parallel to the Dutch border, ending in the middle of nowhere. Flat and straight, almost no truck traffic — just perfect. Suzuki had tested the Hayabusa at 300 km/h and other manufacturers frequent the track also. If Hamminkeln-based Thunderbike would decide to push their bikes to the limits, they would not have to ride that far. Well known in the international custom scene for their success with Spectacula in 2006 and Open Mind in 2008, both of which won European Championships, Thunderbike has been a source for extraordinary custom parts in the German market for a long time. Apart from the radical one-offs which were built to score in the AMD-Championships, Thunderbike offers a complete selection of mild-to-wild frames, rolling chassis and custom parts, to complete bikes build to customer’s specifications. They’re also an an authorized H-D dealership.
The Dragster frame is manufactured from 1 ¼ Inch cold rolled ST52 steel tubing, with precision cut CNC-machined steering head and swingarm axle sideplates, welded together on the most modern frame gauge available. The frame kit comes with tank, oil tank, rear fender engine- and battery-bracket, seat plate and swingarm, with two versions.
The sophisticated upside-down front end is available in different lengths, complete with 4-degree triple-trees and ready to be mounted. Thunderbike offers multiple wheel designs for creating a drag-style performer. The RS-O is equipped with Vegas-Cut wheels, the single sided rear wheel features TB’s rim-mounted disc brake combined from wave rotor and Nissin 6-piston caliper. This is a “muscle bike” witch its power in the open: open primary, clean look and ready for the open road. Apart from the engine and gearbox, everything else is pure Thunderbike, including the paintwork by Ingo Kruse, who also has painted the Championship-winning bikes.
