Custom bike building is well into its second generation, even third with the Ness family. In Europe, one of the most famous builders is Fred Kodlin. We featured a V-Rod Fred built about six years ago called the F-Rod; that article generated more calls than any bike we’ve ever run. Fred now works with Custom Chrome Europe (CCE) designing parts and this bike was built by Fred’s son Len Kodlin. This particular bike is being used by Custom Chrome Europe to showcase many of father Fred’s Custom Chrome parts that are now available.
For years, Dyna models were the slightly ignored model in the Harley line up, with softails and baggers getting cut up the most. But for riders who liked the isolated, rubber mounted engine and standard twin shock rear suspension, custom parts dedicated directly to the Dyna family are very welcome. When Harley-Davidson’s own matt black Street Bob hit the scene, it didn’t take long for the aftermarket to want to chip in and enrichen the bad boy looks.
“We recognized the potential of the Street Bob instantly,” said CCE General Manager Andreas Scholz, “consequently we acquired a sample bike at the earliest possible moment and have been modifying it ever since. The Street Bob is a raw and pure motorcycle and it is a perfect riding machine.” Scholz himself has logged more than 600 miles on this particular bike. Father Fred has developed a 240 kit for Dynas, new fenders, a dash, and a mesh battery case. Len installed as many of the new parts as possible, then had a killer, tattoo-style paint job done by Marcel Sinnwell, a newcomer to the scene. This bike also has CCE Thriller triple trees and the Kodlin Bonanza handlebars. Other parts from the Custom Chrome Europe catalog include the Legend Air Suspension shocks, Midnight Series Nitro wheels, and RevTech calipers, discs and belt pulley.
CCE plans to take the bikes to rallies and shows all over the continent to showcase both Father Fred’s parts and son Len’s building talent.
