Powering the beast is a show polished 113” S & S engine breathing in through an S & S carb and exhaling through Martin Brothers exhausts. The proprietary PCC frame is accompanied by PCC handlebars, primary cover, shift linkage, and creative air cleaner. The air cleaner saves you the trouble of taking your hands off the handlebars to comment on other people’s bad driving habits. The lime green and tangelo House of Kolor paint was applied by Ricky Evans, a local custom painter and best man at Joe’s wedding. The pin striping was done by Jive, a legend in the midwest.
Joe builds customs to suit his customers by size. He measures their height, inseam and arm length to get the controls located comfortably and to make sure that the “custom” bike fits like a tailored suit. He makes his own tanks and fenders and will build to order or build a bike such as this one to his own liking. As is often the case, as he built this bike for the floor, a customer took it off his hands for a cool $36,500 before he was finished, leaving another blank spot on the showroom. Prison City has arranged financing for their bikes with a local bank which is great in this age of conservative, risk avoiding banking.
Joe can be reached at 815-744-5033 or you can visit his website at www.prisoncitychoppers.com. He builds up over 30 super customs a year, more than just about anyone in the midwest. His bikes start at $26,500 for a 250 tire rigid with a one year warranty and he sells extended service plans for his bikes as well. If you are in Joliet and not behind bars, stop by and check out some of Joe’s one off choppers. If you aren’t in the midwest, at least mail order one of his air cleaners. I really think everyone needs one. Just don’t ride your bike to church or you might have some explaining to do.
