This is not the first time Kustoms Inc. has graced the Barnett’s Magazine Online screen as you might remember we featured a completely different-style of bike called No Reservation back in September. Gary’s Rislone Racer looks like it should be prowling the pits at a local dirt track back in the ‘40s and a lot of that is due to the paintjob that looks like it was taken directly from a fender-less stock car of that era. Gary’s go-to painter, Chop Docs Choppers, is responsible for this racy tasty little tidbit of time look. There are a few builders out there who can build a corporate theme bike that gets the point across without slapping you in the face and Kustoms Inc. is one of those.
Central to any motorcycle is, obviously, the motor and Gary doesn’t disappoint with a real Harley engine, a 1974 74” Shovelhead that’s got a veteran’s patina to it. That big SU carb sticking out the side helps to date this build as something that could have actually happened in 1974 and just freshened up almost 40-years later. Everything else is a complete fabrication and that’s all in a good way. The Shovel sits in a Kustoms Inc. rigid frame with a pretty unusual single-spring springer built by a guy well known for the unusual, Mr. Ron Finch of Finch Customs. Gary did his usual great job with the tinwork that has a comfortable metallic Rubenesque feel to it much like an old ‘40s stock car’s curves.
By the way, all of us at Barnett’s Magazine Online wish you a happy and healthy New Year. Be smart, be safe, and we’ll see you in 2013.
