Every style element Ray went for has its roots back in the day, but with a very modern build quality that was not something 99% of the builders back then could do either with the tools or the lack of resources available. You have to remember that motorcycles were more of a blue collar thing and people of stature (read wealthy) were interested in anything but those noisy and dangerous murdercycles. Personally, I can’t remember anybody that wore a suit or a tie back then who rode. Today, that’s a totally different story and motorcycles have broken every economic barrier with a wide range of customs to die for.
