Justin and Jarrod Del Prado are those ‘mischievous lads’ who are constantly turning out one delectable (and affordable) custom out of their shop in New River, Arizona, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were just buttoning up another as I write this. Anyway, the initial story behind this story was reported on by Barnett’s Magazine Online back in November of 2013 so if you’d like to make sense out of this article I suggest you click on this link to it and at least look at the pics. Maybe now you’ll understand why I thought this seemed a bit familiar.
The DP lads have taken up a lot of Barnett’s print and online time with their race car inspired design themes and for good reason ─ they make really cool bikes that you can ride the pee out of and still make you have to do the infamous ‘look back’ after the ride. Just to mention a few, there’s the Steve McQueen Gulf 917 bike, the Ayrton Senna F1 tribute bike, the Grabber Blue Café, and the Ironhead Café. If that’s not enough for you, just type “DP Customs” in Barnett’s Magazine Online’s search engine at the top right hand corner of this page for even more.
The famous race car inspired paint jobs they hang on them grab you every time and that’s fine by me if they have the good taste to make their own paint scheme out of someone else’s palette. The original paint on this bike was inspired by the legendary Martini Racing colors and I can only assume this complete graphic update has Ferrari undertones behind it. I don’t exactly know why, but a repaint on this bike requires disassembly to just about the atomic number of each part and piece. That’s a lotta work even for the DP guys.
Since I know Jack Cofano adores every bike in white that he sees, I know which way he’ll go. Me? I’m a sucker for red just like a little kid. So, I gotta ask, which one do you prefer? Red or white?
