Building a radical bagger is nothing new for John as a quick visit to his website gallery of baggers (www.sinisterindustries.com) will attest. The guy’s just not afraid of breaking out cutting tools and a welder on a bike until it’s just a shell of its former self, although it’s a can’t-take-your-eyes-off-of-it shell of its former self. How many of you recognized that this Road Glide was a 1997 FLTR for instance and not some late model Harley? You could easily be forgiven as the 2-inch stretched and 44-degree rake sure obliterate any stock frame dimensions. Or maybe it’s the huge 26” Metalsport front wheel that makes the OEM wheel look like a wheelbarrow wheel in comparison.
You’d never be able to recognize if it had an original Evo power plant as John chucked that somewhere and replaced it with a kick ass 113” S&S EFI engine that’s gotta make well over double the original 80-inchers dyne readings without really trying. Maybe you noticed the forward-facing exhaust and wondered if that’s just a way John’s trying to be different, but that’s kinda a John Shope trademark as it seems he loves to equip his bikes with a gizmo so he can shoot a wall of fire on command. If you’re at a stoplight and this bike pulls up behind you, don’t be late when the light changes or you just might get a bit of Sinister butt-roasting for being tardy to the party.
