Some of the foulest language came out of my husband’s mouth the day he put apehangers on his Softail. It wasn’t due to the bars; it was due to the cables that he had to install to fit his 14” bars. In fact, I think that was a tougher job than pulling the top end off of my FXR. Burly, where were you back then?
In addition to choosing the correct height, most want matched extended cables, electrical and brake lines. Unless you have experience installing apehangers, most don’t know how long the cables need to be, if the throttle cables should have a 45-degree bend in them or how to route their clutch cable.
After a couple years of development, Burly is proud to announce their new Burly Braided Stainless Cable/Line Install Kits for Softails. Each kit is designed to mate a specific height bar to your late model Softail. Available for 14”, 16” and 18” Apehangers and now offered in a bright braided stainless finish. Burly has engineered each package to end the guesswork, mismatched lines and floppy cables by including extended throttle cables, extended clutch cable, extended brake line, and even wiring harness extensions specific to the year of your bike. The kit includes instructions to help walk you through the install. Fits most 2000-2013 Softail models.
