What’s interesting about this tagged and bagged Camtech custom is that owner Shane Phillips works at Camtech. That’s a good case of practice what you preach when one of the company family goes this deep on a build. What was formerly a 2011 Harley-Davidson Road Glide is now a whipped and dipped former shadow of itself except in the eyes of the South Carolina DMV. There’s some original Harley here somewhere other than the VIN, but you really gotta look hard to find it and the engine’s still a factory 96-inch Twin Cam, but that’s no factory finish I’ve ever encountered.
Well anyway, after the mandatory strip down, Camtech’s crew cut and raked out the front end as is now the standard-customizing procedure to accommodate a Ferris of a front wheel. In this case, it’s a 30” Renegade Whistler wheel that makes your old FL’s 16” front wheel feeling like it needs some enhancers to wow the neighbors or whoever’s busy checking out your size, wheels size that is. Ah, it seems like only yesterday that a 21” bagger front wheel was considered really big and now that’s conservative size for a custom.
Basically the whole extensive Camtech body parts line was thrown at this bike keeping the faint silhouette of a Road Glide for reference, but adding a totally different look. Making sure this doesn’t look like any factory bike ever is the graffiti-style graphics Camtech’s Donny Keller tagged this bike with like it was left in a back alley a bit too long. It’ almost a bit of urban camouflage as it’s hard to tell where the various sections of the bike stop and start. I’m not exactly sure what Donny does (or did) for a hobby, but I gotta wonder if it involved spray cans and breaking the law as he’s got this one down to a tee. Even the name of the bike, Vandlizd, speaks of time spent under a bridge overpass or making a box car more interesting. Be sure to check out how Donny’s design crossed over onto the front tire’s sidewall from the fender, now that’s a pretty damn neat trick.
