Sometimes we just need a piece of beauty to look at just for the sake of beauty. Shaun is an ex-pat Australian who moved to the states and opened up a shop in the most American place ever, Las Vegas, Nevada. Now he’s not just some guy who thought, “Hey, I’ve got some money and some tools and I kinda like bikes so why don’t I open up a custom motorcycle shop?” Nope and nope. He and his wife Sheree owned and operated their own custom fabrication motorcycle shop in Australia called Phat Choppers. Dealing with a mild case of burnout from running what turned out to be a very successful business, they took a trip to the USA to do a bit o’ chillin’ when he ended up helping to build a custom Kiwi Indian custom Chieftain for both Kiwi’s Mike Tomas and for the S&S 50th anniversary show.
After getting his taste of America and apparently liking it, Shaun landed a job as head fabricator and tech at Arlen Ness Motorcycles in Las Vegas before taking the plunge and opening his own shop, Chop deVille, just a block off the strip on Dean Martin Drive. Here he’s turned out a bevy of fine rides like our feature bike that stop you in your tracks to stare and maybe drool just tiny bit. What the hell do you say about a bike like this that uses the legendary board trackers for inspiration and probably isn’t something you’re heading across state with other than “Look, look and look some more. It sure is a pretty little thing with attention to detail and high quality work from stem to stern.”
