The stock motor was scrapped and a 121” TP installed with a Magnacharger and NOS system. Probably half that power is needed to pull the extra weight of the batteries and amplifiers required for the complex audio visual system and the seven gallon gas tank!
A small Bushtec trailer was added with a Firestone Air Ride suspension system to carry one of the televisions, some batteries and the billet Extreme Products beverage holders. Billet beverage holders, another “If You Live to Be Old Enough” product if I’ve ever seen one. Bring a folding chair and you can have a tailgate party behind your bike! One TV screen is located in the dash and doubles as a mirror when the feed from the rear mounted camera is triggered. TV camera rear view mirrors, they’re not just for mobile homes and buses anymore. Two more TV’s are in the saddlebags and the largest one is in the trailer. The DVD can power all the TV’s but no provision was made for a passenger who wanted to watch something else, so either the wife watches an action flick, or John gets stuck with a romantic comedy on the way to Sturgis.
You’ll need to read the spec sheet to get a complete rundown on the bike, but needless to say this is one exotic dresser. The “miles” of cabling were well hidden and details like using all chrome nuts and bolts by Gardner Westcott and mounting a hidden gas cap to leave the tank clean for two large working speakers on the side show off the high level of effort that went into this bike. When asked if it was for sale, the businessman in John said, “yes” but it seemed like he lost track in the low six figures when he tried to add up what he had in it to give me a price. Right now, the entire group of vehicles is taken to both car and bike shows to exemplify the building talent of his organization. The truck is used as a shop truck and the dresser was supposed to be John’s weekend rider when time allowed. We had a reader write in last issue asking for some customized dressers to be featured soon. All I can say is, “How’s this one?”
Builder
John Wargo of Custom Shop Cycles in Flanagan, Illinois has been in the custom car building business for fifteen years. Two years ago he branched out and began fabricating custom bikes as well. So instead of just attending the Las Vegas SEMA show and the Chicago World of Wheels, he’s had to add Sturgis and Daytona to his road schedule. A big fan of superchargers, John has a supercharged duelie pick up, Trans Am and Trail Blazer. It went without saying the bike would need one as well. The nitrous on the other hand, was just plain excessive or “Overkill” to be precise.
Custom Shop Cycles will build to a customer’s specifications and/or budget. What separates him from other builders is that he can build you a custom pickup to match or a wildly customized car if you are on a tit for tat basis with you better half when it comes to purchasing toys. Check out his website at www.customshop.org or give him a call at 815-796-2772.
