The 75th Daytona Bike Week is in the books and it was a banner week according to the local news and a slow week according to some of the bloggers and the social media. Who’s right? I certainly don’t know. The local new says that the hotels reported sell outs for most of the week and the bloggers claim otherwise. It seems to me that traffic was a lot better than previous years as I never ran into any lengthy traffic jams. And, while some venues were crowded, many were not, including Main Street.
Regardless who is right or wrong, Bike Week brings in around $75,000,000 to the local coffers. That is more than double what is brought in during the Daytona 500. Not too shabby! With most of the hotels jacking up their normal rate (sometimes doubling it) and the money they get from me from parking, it doesn’t surprise me at all.
