The event was advertised as “5 Days+1,000 Miles=1,000,000 Stories” and with absolutely perfect weather along with some of the greatest motorcycle roads in the country, everyone would remember this event for a long time.
The event started on Wednesday, the 7th of September, in Asheville, North Carolina, a go-to destination at any time of the year. That was a great start to get the wheels rolling. The next stop was on to Maggie Valley and the Wheels Through Time museum on Thursday. What a great destination! You could ride the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville to Maggie Valley which sure beats the boring Interstate I-40 route.
On Friday it was off to Maryville, Tennessee, meeting at the Smoky Mountain Harley-Davidson dealership and The Shed Smokehouse and Juke Joint for two days and then on to Chattanooga, Tennessee, on Sunday to complete the 1,000 mile mountain journey.
I got a kick out of some on the nation’s top custom motorcycle builders posting videos on Facebook of them riding on the Parkway as well as the other mountain roads on their $60,000+ machines. I can’t think of a better way to break in a new bike.
