Sanctified occupies about ten feet of the Lansing, Michigan, shop end-to-end, but long bikes are Steve’s thing whether that’s the cool thing of the moment or not. He does have a different approach where not just one portion of build is stretched out like a ridiculously long fork, but everything gets a piece of the stretching action to keep things in a nice proportion. For a bike this long (I can’t believe I’m going to say this), it only has an 18”-over Golgotha/Kustoms Inc. springer and an almost mild (for a really, really long bike) 42-degree rake. The one-off Golgotha frame (with help from Gary Maurer at Kustoms Inc.) has a beefy single downtube that goes right about its business directly under the engine before finally splitting up just aft of the engine. There’s even a crazy amount of space (a good 5”) between the much-needed tough guy BAKER Torquebox tranny and the wild 140” Ultima El Bruto engine that Steve claims makes over 200 horsepower. Needless to say, the Evil Engineering belt drive is a super-strong and long one-off unit necessary for transferring gobs of power between the engine and tranny before passing it along to another currently not so trendy (Does Steve care? I think not) 300mm Metzeler mounted on an Xtreme Machine Ripper wheel. What appears to be a brakeless front wheel is actually another Ripper, but this one has a pretty rare 360 Brake where you’d think just a hub would be.
Paint is still what everyone who checks out a bike notices first and on Steve’s bike, well frankly, the paint makes a big statement. Just about as big a statement as Cliff Weller of Centerfold Customs and Patrick Kelly of Airbrush Extrodinair could ever do for Steve I would have to imagine. If you weren’t aware of how strong Steve’s beliefs are, just checking out what Golgotha means might explain all you need to know. Sanctified’s long and low, but with 140-inches of power it sure ain’t slow, and that combo could make a believer out of just about anybody.
