A smart phone can be a handy motorcycle travel companion, offering navigation service or music streaming through Bluetooth to a headset or infotainment system. Harley-Davidson Genuine Motor Parts and Accessories offers two new handlebar-mount phone carriers designed specifically for motorcycle use that secure the phone near the hand controls.

The Universal Handlebar Mount Phone Carrier (P/N 76000549, $39.50) features dual thumb screw clamps that adjust to grip phones 1.75-inches to 3.5-inches wide in non-slip pads, in a vertical or horizontal orientation. The phone can be removed from the carrier in seconds.

The Water Resistant Handlebar Mount Phone Carrier (P/N 76000576 for Apple iPhone 5 and 5S, P/N 76000605 for Samsung Galaxy S3/4; $69.95) features a hard case with a 360-degree gasket that seals the phone inside with a positive full-length hinge and clamp. A soft-touch membrane protects the screen and permits touch-screen functions. The case has a crystal-clear back for unencumbered camera use.

Installation of the Universal or Water Resistant Phone Carrier requires the separate purchase of a Handlebar Phone Carrier Mount (P/N 76000537, $29.95) which secures to the left-side or right-side hand-control perch. Its swivel head allows the phone to be rotated into the ideal position. The mount fits most 2002-later VRSC (except VRSCF and VRSCR), 2004-later Sportster (except XL883N and XL1200N), 2006-later Dyna (except FXDB), 2000-later Softail, 2009-later Touring (except FLHTKSE), and 2009-later Trike models.
