Choppers
Like many things learned over time or by trial and error, this build was planned from the git-go to address various issues Eric had with his previous bikes. Even though he didn’t care to elaborate on them, it’s safe to assume that all those past grievances were carefully and correctly accounted for as no current problems were brought up. According to Stan, the basic bike plan was, “To build an all-out custom that screamed bad ass!” and even though it came out that way, that’s a lot simpler than it sounds. This was no tweak to a current model, but a total ground-up build incorporating a new rigid frame with 4”-up/2”-out dimensions that was more to Eric’s liking than his previous bikes.
It didn’t stop there as Eric also had a bug up his wherever he gets a bug up to build an engine that he could definitely call his own although Stan refers to it as a “Fatvo” engine. For those of you who don’t have a clue what that is, me included, here’s the poop straight from Stan, “The motor was assembled by using an Evo bottom end and a Twin Cam top end to try a combination out of the norm from other bikes.” With a total of 100 cubes of cylinder displacement, there were plenty of cubes available just to make sure this experiment worked. A Primo belt drive whips up a LSD 5-speed tranny that’s something we take for granted with all the 6-speeds around these days. Having a chain final drive makes it nice and easy to get the exact gear ratio(s) you’re looking for compared to a belt and just looks better to these old eyes.
With a chromed-out, always-classy springer, a sleek fabricated tank and a set of contrast cut-style wheels bouncing off the subtle, yet sassy, ghosted skull paint job by Chris Johnson of Hoodlum Paint, Eric got the looker he was looking for. The stance is perfecto and bad ass chop looks ready to hit the road which it did in time for this year’s Smoke Out. According to Eric, “All was completed in-house from the Hard Knox Cycles crew working on the project after shop duties were completed. The bike turned out awesome and is a blast to ride.”
Well I guess we’re done here after Eric put the period at the end of the build sentence with his total satisfaction on how this bike came out.
