“Jim is his own business called Hell Razor, but he built the bike here at Scalia, he works here in the shop when he needs to do stuff,” Will explained. “We came up with the design and he built it out of here.”
Keeping the cost down on Hell Rider 2, much of the bike was built with parts Hell Razor and Scalia’s Cycles already had in stock, except for the modified Redneck Engineering frame. From its 110″ RevTech engine to its Martin Bros. pipes to its modified tank, to House of Kolor’s Candy Red paintjob by Psycho Dave, Hell Rider 2 has the look and feel of burning up the road. A ten-inch-over front end and three-degrees additional rake in the trees doesn’t hurt, either.
Jim made the fuel tank, oil tank, and fenders. “They’re custom, Jim built ’em and we rolled them and everything,” Will said. “They go with the whole hell, devil-type look. It’s got a lot of devil horns on it. It’s nice, it’s a neat bike. It’s not a show bike, it’s a riding bike, it gets used all the time. The owner rides it almost every day.”
Will said they’ve been building Hell Rider bikes just to build them for fun, and Tom Winkler, a friend of Will and Jim’s, saw Hell Rider 2 and wanted it. “We’ve built quite a few of them,” he said. “We’ve got three of them out there now, not exactly the same, nothing’s the same, but similar.”
Of course a trick bike like this gets plenty of attention wherever it goes, which brings lots of attention to Scalia’s Cycles. Scalia’s is a full service, customizing, and fabricating shop, and it’s been in business since 1994. “We do service on stock Harley-Davidsons, we do everything from tire changes to motor rebuilds to customizing to oil changes,” Will said. I asked him if he’d change someone’s oil and he said, “Absolutely! We’re full service.” If you’re interested in a Hell Rider of your own, or you just want to check out their parts and service department, or take a look at the events calendar and see when Will and Jim and the crew will be out and about, click on over to www.scaliascycles.com and have yourself a look.
