Mike got that free AMD invite along a giant novelty check for $2, 000 by winning the Performance Class at Daytona this past Bike Week. No surprise there as performance is what Janet is all about. Sticking a 140” Ultima engine with an inter cooled turbo and a bunch of nitrous until it makes 260hp into a five-inch stretched frame (with a sportbike-like 22-degree rake) of his own making with a six-inch stretched Hayabusa swing arm hanging off the back has all the earmarks of something meant to go very, very fast in a straight line. A nearly prone riding position and an air shifter let you know this bike’s natural habitat is either the quarter-mile or the vast Salt Flats, not the local Dairy Queen. You want a bar hopper? Mike will gladly build you one, but Janet was made for shows and running between the cones and flags marking the long race course to Bonneville’s horizon.
So take a good look now at Mike’s exquisite work and appreciate the details, finish, and paintwork before the harsh salt surface has its way with it. For a Bonneville first-timer, it’ll be interesting to see how Mike does handling the tough tech inspectors and mastering the tough to ride surface, but I have no doubt he’ll do just peachy as he’s one tough competitor.
