Emily, the British lady owner, starts telling me about the ground-up restoration done on this Isolastic frame (rubber-bushing mount engine) Norton. Sorry, people, no, Harley did not invent the rubber-mounted engine, Norton-Villiers in England did. This 1969 750 Norton Commando was the successor to the venerable Norton Atlas.
The entire sheet metal is painted a shade darker than British Racing Green including the front and rear fenders that were originally polished stainless. In the space where on older Nortons a Lucas Magneto rested, a spin-on oil filter has been installed. Ignition is by battery/coil and fuel is supplied by a pair of choke-less Amals that have to be tickled to cold start the engine.
By the way, the British lady’s seat came out just lovely and she was totally happy with Corbin’s work. Another satisfied customer.
