Laughlin River Run 2010 – Part 1
Story and Photos by Rodent
This year for a change we’re looking at the Laughlin event from the Arizona side of the river. I was based at Negotiable Tim’s used parts swap meet where we get down to basic. Riders stop in looking for that used part for a build or restoration or to fix their current ride. Service? Starting digging. The police presence was very heavy on both sides of the river. Local cops, sheriffs, metro cops, FBI DEA, ATF, CIA plus game wardens, dog catchers, undercover both male, female, transsexuals, etc. Hotel rooms are available to walk up customers at $139 a night and free RV parking has been severely restricted. Seems like Laughlin lays out the red carpet for the winter Snowbirds but charges the bikers extra. That attitude is going to bite ’em in the ass one day. Everything looks the same as always on Casino Row. Most of the usual vendors are in their usual places except for the spot on the Riverside usually occupied by Harley-Davidson. This year it is filled by their arch competitor Victory. The main product for sale in Laughlin like any other rally is the ubiquitous T-shirt. Quite a few nice dressers this year, though.
