The build started out with a Nothing-But-Customs frame with 40 degrees of rake and an overall bike length of about ten feet. An Air Ride Tech shock resides above the transmission, filling with air on command to lift the bike off the ground to ride. Adjustable compression and rebound dampening means the ride can be dialed in for comfort as well as rendering the sidestand superfluous. The frame tubes themselves store the air for the shock absorber system.
There was no secondary belt available for a bike stretched out so far in the back, so a second shaft is hidden under the seat and panels so a standard belt could be used. This power transmission method allows the entire drivetrain to be installed in the center of the bike for good balance and handling.
American Suspension provided the forks with a concealed brake line to keep things looking clean and MGS proprietary sheetmetal was fitted to give the bike a unique look and feel. Power is provided by a 131” H & L engine from Connecticut and gets fed to the 300 series rear tire through a Baker six speed. A PM driveside brake set up was matched with the PM Casino rear wheel.
The finishing touches were provided by Accutronix, Rivera, and Compufire. The paint scheme was designed by Mike’s wife Paula and applied by Little Designs. MGS produces a lines of custom parts, a $30K entry level custom bike and still has time to finish five or six one-off, full blown customs a year. MGS will be at the Oakland Roadster Show this year and also at Daytona Bike Week. Stop by and check out their work or visit them on the web at www.mgscustombikes.com.
