At Corbin headquarters, a couple miles north of the San Benito Street madness on San Felipe Road, the tradition continues with the annual Corbin Customer Appreciation Days corresponding with the downtown event. Check out the photos of dinosaurs across the road from Corbin’s. Why they are there, who knows?
The Corbin event is unique in the fact that there are no intoxicants sold and the only sponsor is Corbin. The whole deal is on Mike’s dime, so thank him when you see him and if you need a seat for your ride, give Corbin’s the business.
Ramrodded by Joni (event coordinator) and Sandy (handling city permits), vendor spaces were measured and assigned with the usual madness associated with such endeavors. Biker Bob was assigned the management of the traditional bike show on the green manicured lawn (close, but not quite the 18th fairway of PebbleBeach). Meanwhile, a DJ was on hand to pump out the background sounds.
Robert, the Daly City ribs guy, showed up as usual with his outta sight Up In Smoke offerings and, of course, Mike’s Wizard’s Cafe was open. Steve Shapiro, promoter of Rip’s B.A.D. Ride for diabetes, mouthpiece and one of the better bottom feeders, was on hand. At least he is a lawyer and not a paid huckster. Panhead Billy Burrows recommends Steve highly and nobody, but nobody, rides an old rat Harley-Davidson Panhead as many miles as Billy does. Steve keeps him outta trouble and on the road.
