The GEICO bike has been on constant show duty since its completion way back in June of 2012 and not just at motorcycle shows, but military installations and happenings everywhere. The bike and its huge personal trailer that is wrapped in an even more huge likeness of the bike have probably put on more miles and garnered more smiles than any old “yesterday’s” custom still on the circuit. Hey, it’s even got its own Facebook page (GEICO Military Tribute Bike) with an unbelievable number of past appearances with photos that looks like one of those things where somebody photographs a gnome statue all over the world and a list of where it’s headed to next.
Whatever you think of Mr. Teutul Jr. or his builds has had no affect on the continuing popularity of this particular Paul Jr. Designs bike. With a few years retrospect to fall back on, I’d say it has to be possibly one of his most successful theme bikes as it’s still out and about to an ever growing audience while other famous Paul Jr. bikes sit and wait for you to come to them. GEICO, you got your money’s worth out of this one.
You’re probably thinking, “That’s all fine and good, but Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?” Err, sorry, scratch Carmen Sandiego and make that Paul Jr. Well, since all the TV stuff like the, I forgot the show’s name, but let’s call it the Absolute Ultimate Best Motorcycle Builders of All Time and Forever to Come Competition Show featuring Paul Jr., Paul Sr. and that Jesse James guy ended, there’s not much reason for anybody to ever build a custom bike again. That’s it ─ put your tools away and find a new interest.
Ever since that over-hyped debacle which Paul Jr. won two times in a row, Paul Jr.’s latched onto some really interesting gigs. One thing that I got to give him a lot of credit for was hooking up with video game company, World of Warcraft, to build a couple of outrageous bike-like vehicles, Alliance and Horde, by two teams Paul Jr. assembled in a series of Azeroth Choppers webisodes for your viewing pleasure. All of a sudden, Paul Sr.’s silly lay-down tracked bike that OCC built to totally unsuccessfully compete against Jr. and that other guy doesn’t look so silly in retrospect. Well actually, it still does, but then he wasn’t commissioned by World of Warcraft so silly stands. Anyway, good for you Paul Jr. and I hope you’re making a killing.
One other little known project he’s been involved in even if he was only a contributor and not the builder has finally come to fruition. This past February 3rd, he and his lovely wife, Rachael, welcomed the newest member of the Teutul clan, Hudson Seven Teutul, to their family. A big congratulation from all of us here at Barnett’s Magazine Online goes out to the new parents and especially to Hudson who doesn’t have the slightest idea what he’s dropped into. The only question left to Paul Jr. is what are you going to build now that will ever eclipse this?
Anyway, congratulations again to Paul Jr. and Rachael and we wish both of you and Hudson the very best.
