This year’s guest celebrity was 500cc MotoGP World Champion, Wayne Rainey, from the years prior to his real bad crash in Europe some 20 years ago. Since then Wayne has owned and managed race teams and conveniently lives just about half-way between Quail Lodge, Laguna Seca, and Pebble Beach. Wayne was hanging with his former racing buddies, Mert Lawwell, who Ives up in nearby Marin County and the great Kenny Roberts from nearby Modesto. They came to help honor Wayne’s entry into the Quail Hall ofFame.

    Also, this year Ducati was celebrating the 20th aniversary of their Monster line of bikes so I helped the celebration by toasting the marque with many double shots of espresso at the  Ducati stand.

   Seemed to me that the attendance was up over previous years. There is talk of expanding the deal to encompass the entire weekend. In any case this is one of the top motorcycle shows on earth.As usual, Courtney smooth the way for this humble scribe/picture takers admittance to the grounds. Can’t wait till next year!
