For the extra power the customer wanted, once again Guenther Sohn of G&R was called. One of his Stage II motors was created out of the stock parts, with displacement bumped up to 1920cc and horsepower up to 122 at the rear wheel. Speaking of wheels, of course Rick’s Motorcycles used some of their own, this time the “Seven Sins” models with matching pulleys. Since the engine was now more Ferrari than Harley, six-piston Beringer brakes from France were fitted. To accent the all-grey monster, they were powdercoated Ferrari yellow.
The customer received his understated, but highly modified Road King only after a few hours of testing by Rick’s staff. Rick’s Motorcycles prides themselves on bridging the gap between stock Harley-Davidsons and one-off customs, and reliability is one of their priorities. If you check out the detailed photos of this bike, you can see how many individual parts were disassembled, powdercoated, and re-installed, it was a six month project. The ride on this bike must be amazing with so much horsepower, Rick’s Air Ride shocks, and such high quality brakes. I imagine with that low key color, the bike’s new owner may be able to at least float under the visual radar of the local constabulary, with only that small touch of yellow revealing the monster within.
