Mark Daley is the owner of Thunder Struck and has been handling his own heavy equipment for quite a while now with judged validation like a 2nd place in the freestyle class at the 2010 AMD World Championship and an overall win at the 2009 Artistry in Iron Show. That’s just a couple of his wins and if I bothered to list them all there’d be no room for this article, so suffice to say, Mark knows his shit.
This little ditty Mark recently built for Robb certainly doesn’t give a damn about the current bobber/bagger fad and goes long and low in a way that’s sure to catch a show goer’s eye. Hey, just ask old Jack Cofano what grabs the spectators at any custom show and he’ll swear it’s still the old long and low theme every time. Such is the case with this
radical, but rideable rigid powered by a 100” Crazy Horse V-Plus engine. Robb’s dubbed his ride The Kraken which in case you don’t know (and I didn’t) is the name of a sea monster in one of those Pirates of the Caribbean series of movies. No surprise there as fictional sea monsters are usually associated with all things big and that goes right along with what Robb’s into for a living.
The quality of Mark’s work shows throughout the bike and there’s nicely repetitive details like the screening on the intake, exhaust, and fender that just quietly pulls it together. The initially subtle from five-feet paintjob by Jeremiah Thiring of Thiring Designs turns into a whole ‘nother intricate happening the closer you get and really sets the tone for the sea monster theme. The closer you get, the more you get the theme. Park this next to the ocean and you might think it just crawled out. Maybe that’s where that Thunder Struck thing comes into it or maybe it’s just because it’s a cool custom that could win a show or bar hop with the best of them.
