Two of the streamliners were not some form of combustion-powered bikes, but battery-powered. Mike Corbin’s streamliner hit an implausible 165.387 way back in 1974 and Lightning Motorcycles’ current record holder, the Lightning LS-218, hit 218mph in 2012 and went on to win the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb beating its gas-powered competitors. Both of these electric motor powered bikes were powered by batteries of the era.
Dave Campos brought the Easyriders Streamliner (322 in 2010) from Albuquerque for its place in this historic gathering of veterans of the salt along with Dennis Manning’s Bub Streamliner, the Top Oil 1 Ack Attack (376mph in 2011), Triumph, and Vincent. The Vincent, stated to be the first Vincent HRD production bike, was not a streamliner but the actual bike the legendary Rollie Free famously rode in a Speedo (back when one could) in 1948 to a record 150. 313.
