Dale Walksler, the owner and curator of the Wheels Though Time, all-American motorcycle museum in Maggie Valley, North Carolina, travels the country in search of vintage motorcycles and the parts that he uses to restore and display them. The museum is known as the “museum that runs” because everything in there starts and runs. If you ask Dale to start it and it doesn’t, I can guarantee you that he won’t rest until it does.
While most “reality” shows have little to do with reality, I can assure you that the Dale Walksler you see on the show is the real deal. I have visited the museum numerous times and let me tell you Dale is perpetual motion, a fountain of information, and someone you just can’t help but like. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him sit down. When the museum closes, he heads back into his shop and works on restoring his current projects.
I can’t wait until my annual pilgrimage to the mountains of Western North Carolina to visit Maggie Valley and stop in and see Dale, ride the Blue Ridge Parkway, challenge the “Dragon” in Deals Gap, and enjoy one of the most beautiful areas in North America.
