Did the estimate of rally attendees really amount to half-a-million or do some people see in double vision? Are there now more bike shows than wet T-shirt contests and have the vendors run out of new gimmicks items to sell? Seems like it. I didn’t see one SOA T-shirt for sale. Maybe if zombies rode motorcycles they could sell Riding Dead T-shirts. Just a thought.
The final weekend in the Daytona area was mobbed, but I was told that during the week things were pretty slow. Go figure with the price of practically everything jacked up making staying the full week way out of a lot of peoples’ budgets. The hotel I usually like to stay in was almost $300 a night and dropped to $89 the day after bike week ended. Unbelievable!
Don’t get me wrong, bike rallies are a spectacle unlike any other event and a lot more fun than an Accountants Convention. Where else can so many like minded individuals share a week of mindless debauchery and be accepted by their peers ─ no questions asked?
Did I mention the mindless debauchery? Did I see any debauchery? I don’t remember.
