Back to Arizona and the big Cave Creek Biketoberfest deal. I was welcomed with open arms and assigned executive parking next to the Cave Creek Tap Haus dumpster. Cave Creek’s Mark Bradshaw owns a couple of joints about a block apart, The Hideaway Grill and The Tap Haus, and between them is the town dump and a gun store just in case you’re interested.
At The Hideaway, there were traditional rally vendors selling stuff you could live without and at the Tap Haus was a builders’ showcase. What they were showing, the product Phoenix has infected the motorcycle world with, consisted of wheels gigantism and dragging bags. Every area builder worth anything was on the Tap Haus lot showing off their big wheels. The big wheel bagger craze is spreading faster than Ebola, but the enthusiasm will die out quicker than the cure for Ebola.
Across the road are a couple of cowboy bars, Hogs and Horses and the Buffalo Chip Saloon, and I didn’t see any conflict between patrons which is great. Bikers know their place and cowboys know theirs. Anywho, the crowds were huge, peaceful and the bar had a big gun auction with requirements of no felonies and an Arizona driver’s license.
