This ’99 Dyna Sport belongs to Allan Potter, aka Crazy P. He bought the beauty from a guy in Lindbergh, Germany. Allegedly, it was presented as a gift to a motorcycle club, and somewhere along the line, they sold it to pay for some legal fees and it ended up in Tulsa. Potter bought if from their attorney and immediately handed it over to it to Bandit Bikes, LLC for customization. “I wanted a one-of-a-kind Harley from a stock Harley,” Crazy P said. “Bandit added the accessories, fine-tuned things, hyped the motor up for me, changed things up and chromed it.”
A retired aerospace engineer, for years Crazy P checked geometric dimensioning and tolerance for Boeing, Raytheon and Lear Jet, among other companies. It made him understandably particular about his ride, which has been an ongoing labor of love since he bought it. “We’ve never really stopped working on it,” he said. “I’m always making changes to it here and there. It’s probably taken four years to get it to where it fits me like a T.”
Bandit found working on the bike challenging, in part because it’s European. “That metric speedometer was a new one on me,” he said.
Crazy P wanted the bike to look like no other, so he took it to Cole Stevens at Doughboy Customs in Tulsa. “They’ve done paint for all kinds of magazines and shows,” he said. “Once they paint your bike, that design is never duplicated. They’re pricier than other places, but they do outstanding work, and I know that my paint job will never be on another bike.” Cole completely disassembled the Dyna, sandblasted everything and painted it all, from the coil cover to the oil tank. It’s a work of art.
The chopper is one of Crazy P’s prized possessions. He’s made treks to Sturgis, and a few months ago he rode from Tulsa to Tombstone, Arizona and back. He’s put over 35,000 miles on it in four years, and his wife Breeze is often right by his side on her 2000 Honda Shadow 750. “It’s my daily rider,” he said. “Wherever I go, it’s always been right by my side.”
