What inspired me to build such a custom bike? Actually it all started about seven years ago. I owned a different custom bike shop with a partner. I created and built the Alien bike called Resurrection that was featured in and on the cover of Barnett’s Magazine (May 2005 issue #41). I poured my heart and soul into my bike. To make a long story short, because of extreme unprofessional and personal wrong doings from my partner, my custom bike shop, with no doing of my own, was forced to close. Unfortunately my Alien bike was taken by the partner and out of greed was taken apart. Some parts were sold, and the rest of my Alien bike was hidden away for years. Then a close friend of mine saw just the frame for sale on the Internet. I could not believe it, there it was, Resurrection, my creation. Or should I say, what was left of it. It was in bad shape!
With the help of two of my friends I bought the frame. The Alien bike has become very sentimental to me. It was noticed by a beautiful young woman Christine, who came into my life and became my fiancé. Christine knew what the Alien bike meant to me so she spent endless hours that turned into two-and-a-half years trying to find the bike for me. She wanted so much for me to have my Alien bike back where it belongs and to rebuild it. Tragically we lost our beloved Christine only one year ago. Needless to say we are all devastated, to say the least. With the help of two close friends, the frame of my Alien was brought back home to me the night of Valentine’s Day. I believe Christine found the frame for me and brought it back to me. Amazingly, little by little, I was led to people who had parts of my Alien
. Finally, I had my creation, my Resurrection back. Well, I had some badly damaged parts of the Alien back I should say.
So, I decided to rebuild a new Alien bike but make it totally different and over the top. I wanted it dark, mean, sinister, badass like no one has ever seen before, just like the Alien in the movie. I had exactly what I wanted to build in my head and in my heart. Therefore, I was inspired to create and build the new Alien, Resurrected.
The gas tank alone with all the molding, sculpting and airbrushing took weeks and weeks, hundreds of hours. I created and built every inch of Resurrected in my shop, Devils Candy Customs. I feel I did indeed accomplish what I set out to do, 110 percent! This bike is ten times the original Alien I created and built.
My favorite aspect of my custom bike is that it is functional, a beautiful work of art and that it once again is back with me, the original creator and builder. As far as what type of riding I use this bike for, well it is fast, loud and heavy….but really it is a show bike.
My bike is finished. It was finished just in time for the 2011 Biketoberfest in Daytona Beach FL. I am entering Resurrected in a North Carolina and a Clear Water, Florida, custom bike show in January 2012.
I have already started another custom bike that I was actually working on when the Alien frame was found. Because of what the Alien bike means to me, I put the other bike on hold while I built the new Alien. This next build is going to be again like no one has ever seen. Christine, the love of my life, is the inspiration for me on this creation. I am planning to have this bike done for Biketoberfest 2012.
I want to give special thanks to some people like Little Johnny McKinnis and Brian Dutilly (aka The Canadian who pulled all-nighters with me), Higgs Auto Paint in Daytona, DuPont paint, and Top Line Stainless. Thank you!!!
