This year the rally started a week earlier than usual giving the area a break between the Harley rally and the AtlanticBeach rally. That didn’t affect the crowds in any way as you can see in most of the photos that were taken on Tuesday. The rally typically doesn’t start gaining momentum until the end of the week and this year was no exception. By Thursday, the crowds were the largest seen in many years and the last weekend was slammed.
The negative view of the rally has toned down in the last few years and this year’s Harley rally has brought in new riders as well as those who have enjoyed this great week in the past.
Most attendees still avoid the city of Myrtle Beach as I do and who cares? There’s nothing to gain by going into the city except traffic, novelty T-shirt shops and strict law enforcement. Who needs that?
