It’s now 2017 and I’m happy to say the rally is back. This year the attendance was estimated to be around 150,000 and if you went to any of the venues you would think it was 2007. Suck Bang Blow, the Beaver Bar, Spoke and Bones, Jammin Leather and Barefoot Landing with the House of Blues were packed all week as well as the Harley-Davidson shop. The newest additional stop in this cruising rally is Restaurant Row on the north end of route 17, which is in Horry County so vendor permits are allowed.
I know that a lot of people will still boycott the rally for what happened in 2008 and I still will not go into the city myself. But, it’s been nine years since the developers and the city council not only hurt a great rally, but also deprived all the business of revenue that in a lot of cases was what was keeping them open.
This Harley Rally is still one of the best in the country and if you ask anyone who attended if they will be coming back I will bet you will be getting a “Hell Yea!” from them.
