The Cannonball is an Italian bobber filled with interesting features and an extremely different gas tank design and location. On most customs you can normally find the gas tank located somewhere just above the cylinder heads, but not on the Cannonball. The Cannonball gas tank is located just above and forward of the rear fender. The gas tank is actually a chrome seat that holds 1.7 liters of fuel and provides a smooth chrome seating arrangement for the rider when puttin’ down the Italian Autostrade.
For an extremely narrow look, a chromed steel 1-inch arched metal rod with holes replaces the area where the gas tank is normally found on most custom motorcycles. It connects to the frame center post located just forward of the seat, between the top of the cylinders, and to a neck extension just above and forward of the front cylinder. The average biker would definitely do a double take and wonder where the fuel tank is located.
This custom also appears to be missing a headlight, or the headlight does not appear in the normal location compared to other customs. Our first thoughts were, “Well, no headlight, so it’s just for daylight riding only.” Wrong, after a closer look, we noticed the Hella headlight was nicely placed in the spoiler.
Written across the top of the bobbed rear fender are the words, “In memory of Luca Garbero, Racer.” Luca Garbero was a motorcycle racer and good friend of Aldo Querio Gianetto (AQG). Two years ago while Luca was out on the road riding his normal street motorcycle, he was involved in a fatal accident with an automobile. He was 28. Aldo built the Cannonball custom in memory of his good friend. It has gained much recognition from many fans and motorcycle companies around the world.
The Cannonball custom is like many others from this one man Italian operation known as AGQ; it’s got a special style and was built for a special reason. For more information about Aldo Querio Gianetto (AQG) and his unique custom line of motorcycles, visit www.aqg.it.
