Over 250 motorcycles were on display by collectors, builders, and developers. Being the 40th anniversary of the Honda Gold Wing, there was a display of the bike that popularized, for better or for worse, the modern water-cooled motorcycle revolution. The first actual modern water-cooled production motorcycle was Suzuki’s two-stroke triple GT 750, known affectionately as the Water Buffalo in 1972, but was very short lived.
The role of military bikes was celebrated by a special exhibit section of relevant bikes. As usual, the presentation was magnificent with mostly high-quality vendors placed on the borders of the field so as not to interfere with the main attraction, the motorcycles on display. Event T-shirt sales were handled by The Quail, eliminating the possibilities of The Quail turning into a shopping mall with motorcycles as an added attraction.
Just look at the images as they speak for this year’s Quail Motorcycle Masterpiece! Thanks to Courtney, Laurie, and Dennis for their invaluable assistance in the completion of this pleasurable day in Carmel Valley.
