Alain Angelos’ 2005 Harley-Davidson Night Train Dark Custom
Story by Mark Barnett

Not satisfied with the Motor Company’s blacked out treatment, Alain Angelos of Moto Psychos here in El Paso put together what he considers a properly “blacked out” bike or a Dark Dark Custom. Starting with a 2005 Night Train, Alain systematically replaced and powdercoated parts until just about everything minus the cylinder and head fins were blacked out. This went all the way down to nuts and bolts, cables, spokes, and calipers. The powdercoating task fell to Ary Marivani of El Paso Powdercoating. I imagine it took a while.
The only major modifications were the fenders. Alain fitted a Jesse James fender on front and picked up a used FL fender from our used parts department here at Barnett Harley-Davidson. The fenders, plus those Chubby 18” ape hangers are the major aesthetic changes, plus he spiced the engine up with a Stage 1 kit and Vance and Hines exhaust pipes, blacked out of course. Whether Harley-Davidson will pick up on this, only time will tell, but it is a great example of choosing a theme and carrying it out to an extreme degree. Alain always has a bike or two in progress. Another bobber is in pieces now, and he wants to put together a Euro-style, fat-tire V-Rod in the near future. Alain travels to Europe three or four times a year and says the killer V-Rods are something that we really don’t have over here in great numbers. We’ll show you what he comes up with when it is done.
