From front-to-back and side-to-side, Italy’s master builder Aldo Querio Gianetto, has created another subtle masterpiece. The overall proportions are perfect and the bikes looks great from a distance. As you approach it, more and more details pop out like the winged statue on the springer fork, the elegant, but still old school front caliper mount, and the hip metal flake paint job. Good stuff.
Propelling this bobber is the ubiquitous 93” S&S shovelhead motor, old school looks with modern machining and power, pretty much the best of both worlds. To spark the explosions, a Morris Magneto was fitted and looks the business hanging out in the wind by the rider’s right foot. A few brass-colored parts here and there complete the bygone-era image, but take it back even further in time. Bikes at the turn of the century had brass lanterns full of whale oil or kerosene to light their paths. These bits were probably thrown in just to stretch out the number of included stylistic decades. Well, I think you got just about all of them in this bike, Aldo.
Bobbers are all the rage right now. Partly, I imagine as a reaction or correction for the preceding decade’s opulence and partly due to the state of the world financially. Theoretically they can be pieced together quite inexpensively, but this particular one probably isn’t cheap. By the way, it can be seen storming the streets of St. Tropez, France if you just happen to be over there and catch the bike’s new owner in action. More of Mr. Gianetto’s bikes can be found at www.aqg.it if our running the 1, 137th bike feature of an AQG bike hasn’t yet fully sated your bobber appetite.
