Lux Custom Choppers’ Official Colt Ford Edition

I was working at another shop, when they closed down and had folks ask me if I was going to open my own shop. Through a little luck and some help, I opened my shop almost three years ago and built my first chopper through the shop. It was a cool tangerine-flaked chopper that the owner still rides today. I had this idea to do country artists edition customs for fans, since I am a fan of country I started to approach artists. I met up with Colt Ford and we had some similarities, we were both golf professionals before doing what we do. I was in the military before that working at the Pentagon and USAF Academy. God bless our troops. I started building the first ever Colt Ford Motorcycle Edition and had a buyer named Tony Crisafulli interested in it, so I made it happen.
I wanted to create an Old School bike but with all new components for reliability. I went with a Chica Gooseneck 180 mm tire frame, love his work and a badass frame to start with. Then I got a H-D Evo motor from my local H-D Shop and fitted the Xzotic Panhead covers and generator cover on the motor and painted the engine black. I installed a RevTech 5-speed kick/electric-start transmission and a badass belt drive from Evil Engineering. Once I got that, I picked up some DNA rims and their springer front-end and capped it off with some AVON tires (they do it right).
Next I got some sheetmetal and started modifying them. I took a Sportster gas tank and cut, shaped, and welded my logo and a new gas cap onto the tank. For the price, a great way to go — HINT. It’s hard to justify building a whole new gas tank for the price of the bike ($28,500). After, I took some cut-outs of my logo and welded onto rear fender struts for support and a cool look, something unexpected in my opinion. I like to have people have to keep looking at the bike for the little unexpected details. In my opinion details are the KEY.
After welding up the seat shocks with help from a good friend, Billy Green (master), it was sent the seat off to Duane Ballard to do his thing. Duane is one of the best in the biz. I mounted some cool Hollywood-style bars and the Ness Controls, man they are cool!
I started building the exhaust, more out of necessity, as there were some clearance issues, especially with the cam cover from Xzotic. I got some pre-cuts and started forming the exhaust for a cool look and great fit. I installed some baffles to keep it a little quieter and have an Old School sound, capped them off with some tailpipe covers from a local automotive supplier, and off they went for chrome.
Getting the bike painted always takes longer that you wish for, but what can you do? It is a pretty cool green with gold metal flake that sparkles in the sunlight. Green is cool, not superstitious.
Since putting it all together, the bike has been at numerous Colt Ford shows and he calls it “his badass ride” and I agree. It is an official Colt Ford-licensed bike; he is a great country singer, doing his own thing. You can order his or any of our other country artists onboard from Colt to Sammy K. to Moonshine Bandits and soon to be more. We build the bike and the artist presents it to you at a concert with a VIP package that includes pics, autographs and hanging with the artist. Each bike is one of a kind and a great way to show your support for your favorite artists.
With the economy and all we are now going mobile NATIONWIDE! We will come to the buyer and build it in their town/city or even their garage if need be and the buyer can even help. I’ve had this idea for a while and thought it was a great way for folks to really get involved in their dream bike build. Why send off to a builder and you get what you get. I want to build a badass ride that won’t sit in a showroom but is driven daily and my bikes are driven daily.
